Claire Marie MacInnis (née Duyon), beloved mother and grandmother, aged 81, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Milford Haven Nursing Home in Guysborough, NS, leaving a void that her family cannot fill.
The youngest of five children, Claire was born on January 8, 1944, in Arichat, NS, to Thomas and Lillian (née Bourque) Duyon. Claire went on to marry and start a family in the same town. She spent many years as a homemaker, lovingly caring for her family, and later obtained her bookkeeping license, spending several years managing the books for the family business.
Over the years, she had the opportunity to travel to many places, but she always preferred the quiet beauty of her island home. She was known by those close to her as an amazing cook, a talented crafter, an avid gardener, and a devoted mother and grandmother. Her beautiful smile, warm hugs, and razor-sharp wit will be dearly missed by her family.
Claire was predeceased by her parents, her ex-husband Arthur MacInnis, her sister Emily (Rodrick) Keirstead, and her brothers Nicolas and Donald Duyon. She is survived by her daughter Angele (Andrew) Boudreau, her grandson Vaughn Boudreau, her sister Pearl (Leonard) Landry, and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no service (as per her request); however, a private celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
