It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful, beloved mom, nana, sister, aunt, and cousin, Cathy.
Catherine Ellen Ivany (nee Laur) died peacefully on Friday, February 21st 2025 in the comfort of her own home at 69 years young.
Cathy was met in heaven by her one true love, George. Her parents George and Marion and her brothers Gary (Bev) and Roland (Jane).
She will be wholeheartedly missed and lovingly remembered by her kitty cat, Holly. Her daughters and sons in law Melinda (James) and Carrie (Dave). Her four grandchildren Jaden, Madi, Katana, and Myles. Her sisters Mary (Joe), Linda (Don), Barb (Lloyd), and Judy (Greg). Her brother Neil (Maggie) and many nieces and nephews. Her best friend, Stephanie, and many more.
Cathy was wise, resilient, fun loving and free spirited with a beautiful, infectious smile. A classy lady with an open heart who showed positivity, love and kindness to anyone who crossed her path. A voice of reason for many. Tenderly understanding and trustworthy, the Fort Knox of secrets.
She was the heart of her family and to say she will be missed is a significant understatement. We find comfort in knowing we have the coolest guardian angel watching out for us, “maaan!”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Cambridge Humane Society.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
