Carroll George Kinsman
1932-2024
Carroll George Kinsman
of Wolfville NS passed away peacefully at Valley Hospice on December
31, 2024 at the age of 92. Carroll was the son of Lulu Ferne (Foster)
and George Hibert Kinsman of Morristown, Kings County.
Carroll started and
finished his career as a banker for the Royal Bank. Carroll was a
family man who was loyal, logical, and conservative by nature. These
qualities served him well both in his career and with his family and
friends. Throughout his adult life he volunteered his time with many
non-profit organizations, holding various positions. He once told his
oldest son, who asked why he volunteered so much of his time, that he
felt individuals who were in a position to help support their
community should do so. Perhaps two of his prouder efforts as a
volunteer were when he signed the cheque to purchase the parcel of
land that would become Avon Valley Golf and Country Club and when he
chaired a successful fund raiser for the then new Hants Community
Hospital where his efforts also resulted in him meeting Queen
Elizabeth II during a Royal Visit.
Carroll always enjoyed
having a large vegetable garden, no doubt a carryover from his days
growing up on his parents’ farm in Morristown. However, his
passions were golf, curling, hunting, fishing and cards, and these
activities provided ample opportunities to spend time with his family
and friends. While he would have had various levels of success with
his many interests, his real prize was the time shared with those most
important to him, his family. Carroll did have a bit of a rebel side
to him that was only evident at the kitchen table during an overly
optimistic bid of 30 for 60 during a hand of 45’s.
Besides his parents,
infant brother, Charles and stepson Tim Taylor, Carroll was
predeceased by his first wife Pearl Lillian (Saulnier) who together
raised four children. Carroll later married Marlene Bligh-Taylor and
became a loving member of her family. Carroll is survived by his wife,
Marlene; his children, Joyce Anne Hines (Colin), Susan Tumblin (Gary),
Brian (Sherri) and George (Gina); his sister, Joyce Legge as well as
step-children, Todd Taylor, Jane Manning (Tim), and Tina Sanford
(Mike). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great
grandchildren who were always able to warm his heart and put a smile
on his face.
Paraphrasing a
consistent message from his last several months; life didn’t owe him
anything, he was ninety-two, had a great life and a great family that
he loved. While he was content with the life and the time that he had
on this earth, he will be forever missed by those left
behind.
Carroll’s
family wish to thank the staff at Valley Regional Hospital and Valley
Hospice for the care and compassion they showed him during his final
days.
Cremation has taken
place and a funeral service and reception celebrating his life will be
held at a later date. Please visit the funeral home website for
updated information in the coming weeks. Donations in memory may be
made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation or Valley Hospice
Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
