It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Bruce Jackson of Regina, SK., announce his passing on Friday, February 28, 2025 with his family by his side. Bruce was predeceased by his parents William “Harry” and Annie Jackson; sisters Joyce Weldon, Ruth Jurgensen and Beverly Simes; brother Keith Jackson; nephews Danny Jackson and Aaron Simes; parents-in-law John and Mary Wagner; sister-in-law Ruth Wagner; and brothers-in-law Oz Wasylyk and Luther “Gib” Weldon. Bruce is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Jackson. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Mary Jackson of Regina; brother-in-law Graham Simes of Fort Qu’Appelle; and Linda’s siblings Robert Wagner of Vernon, B.C., Judy Wasylyk of Moose Jaw, Gerald (Elaine) Wagner and Ronald (Caroline) Wagner of Regina; and numerous nieces and nephews in Edmonton, Regina, British Columbia, Ontario and the United States and many wonderful friends.
At an early age Bruce took up golfing as a Junior at the Regina Golf Club. He was on the 1976 Willingdon Cup Team and represented Saskatchewan in the 1976 Canadian Amateur at the Royal Colwood Golf and Country Club in Victoria B.C. Bruce was the Club Captain at the Regina Golf Club from 1982 to 1986. He had many fond memories of the different tournaments that he competed in, winning many of the years. Bruce fondly remembered a golf trip to Portugal for a Pro/Am tournament with some of his golfing buddies.
Bruce worked for the Department of Highways for 32 years as a draftsperson. He was very involved in the Saskatchewan Government Employees’ Union where he met his wife, Linda, and many friends he was quite close to until his passing, meeting some for lunch every Wednesday. Bruce was Chairperson on the Regina Branch from 1981 to his retirement in 1996. He was also on the negotiating committee for the Public Service Sector for many years. Bruce was honoured with a life membership of both Regina Branch and the Provincial upon his retirement.
Bruce and Linda loved to travel. They traveled to all the provinces (many representing the union at national conventions), many of the states in the United States and the Caribbean. They particularly loved Hawaii, Yuma, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. At Bruce’s request, no funeral service will be held, but rather a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Pasqua Hospital, unit 3A and Regina General Hospital, unit 6F.
