It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Bob, who leaves behind a legacy of life and inspiration. After facing a brave and challenging journey with cancer, he left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. Bob was the devoted husband to Hazel for 42 years, and a proud and loving father to Michael (Michelle) and Melissa. He was predeceased by his loving parents Harry and Ellen Adams, and brothers, John and Keith. He will be remembered affectionately by Meagan, Ryan, Taryn, along with his extensive family and friends in both Canada and England.
Born and raised in London, England, Bob had an adventurous spirit that carried him through life. At 25 years old he braved the world and set out on his own, immigrating to Canada. Eager to meet people he quickly became a member of the Hamilton Sailing Club and YMCA where great friends were made. Soon after he met and fell in love with Hazel, and together, they built a world that he was so proud of, never short of love and laughter.
Bob was kind, thoughtful, and had a gentle spirit. His calm demeanour and warmth made him so easy to love. His life was full of travels, both near and far. He was always seeking new experiences, whether it was exploring different corners of the world, or the depth of his own backyard. He took great joy going on long walks, biking, fishing, cooking, and doing his daily crosswords. A true Englishman, Bob had a strong love for the game of soccer – he never missed one of Michael’s games, and he took great pride in coaching Melissa. Even during the hardest times, he found comfort in watching games from across the pond. Above all what he loved most was being with his family—watching his children grow and sharing in their joy, while always making time to play, laugh, and be fully present in the moment. His selflessness and boundless love for his family were the true heart of his adventurous life and he did everything to always put Hazel and the kids first.
As Bob’s health began to decline, taking with it the vitality that once fueled his passions, he met each challenge with remarkable grace. He never lost his deep gratitude for the beautiful life he had lived, the precious people he loved and the incredible care he received. The memories created will be cherished forever.
Family and friends will be received at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Sunday January 5th 2025 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be offered at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Ancaster on Monday January 6th at 10 a.m.
