Eulogy
My name is Josephine Morisseau, and I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude and love, as I share a tribute to my beloved husband, Blair Anthony Morisseau. It is an honor to be surrounded by those who knew and cherished Blair, and I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate his remarkable life with you.
Blair graced this world for 65 beautiful years, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and gentle humor that will forever remain in our hearts. Born with a spirit as rebellious as it was compassionate, Blair was a man who embraced life with zest and a deep connection to nature and the vulnerable. He was a lover of wildlife and devoted much of his time to volunteering, always striving to make the world a better place for those who needed it most. His heart was generous, and his spirit was unyielding in its quest to uplift the downtrodden.
Throughout his life, Blair achieved so much, yet he remained humble, never seeking the spotlight. He was a man who valued teamwork and was always ready to lend a hand, whether at work or at home. Blair had a gift for fixing anything with an engine, a skill that mirrored his ability to mend and nurture the lives of those around him. He was my rock during challenging times, caring for me with unwavering devotion and love, cooking, cleaning, and tending to our home without a hint of complaint or anger.
Blair’s greatest achievement, however, was the love he shared with his family. He held our love as a blessing, and in return, he blessed us with his warmth, kindness, and an ever-present smile that could light up the darkest of days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith when we married, embracing the teachings with the same open heart he showed to everyone he met.
I will miss Blair’s adventurous spirit and his ability to bring calm to life’s storms. He would always find a way to bring positivity and laughter into every day, making me feel like the prettiest girl in the world and the most loved person on earth. His dreams of changing the world for the better were as big as his heart, and he approached life with a selfless attitude, never complaining about his own struggles, always downplaying his needs with a simple, “I am not the important one.”
Blair’s journey was not without its challenges. He came to Alberta as a young man with nothing but courage and hope, overcoming struggles with an eye always on the future. His strength, resilience, and unwavering support made me feel like a princess, and I was blessed to be his once-in-a-lifetime soulmate.
As we gather here today, let us remember Blair not with sorrow, but with joy for having such a gentle soul. His love and laughter will continue to echo in our hearts, a reminder of the beauty he brought into our lives. Though we have lost him in body, his spirit will remain our guardian, guiding us with the same love and care he showed us every day.
In closing, I would like to share a simple reflection: Blair taught us that life is precious, that love is a gift to be cherished, and that kindness has the power to change the world. Let us carry his legacy forward by embracing these values in our own lives, honoring his memory with every act of love and compassion.
Thank you, Blair, for being the love of my life, my partner, and my greatest blessing. You will forever be missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, my love.
