Bernice Marie Gray
1942-2025
SAINT JOHN, NB – It is with great sadness the
family wishes to announce the passing of Bernice Marie Gray on
Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at the age of
83. Born in Saint-Charles, NB, on January 29th,
1942, she was the daughter of the late Émilien Gray and
late Melvina (Robichaud) Gray.
Bernice’s youth was spent in Richibucto, and then, at an
early age, she moved to Saint John, where she worked for the Bank of
Nova Scotia and then with NB Liquor. After retirement, she volunteered
at the local food bank, was a loyal member of the Catholic church, and
was always willing to lend a hand, a dollar, or a smile to the people
she was devoted to. Her favorite pastime was square dancing, dressing
the part with her porcelain dress. She was a Bose and Bells Dancer for
most of her life.
Bernice leaves to mourn her two sons, Sean Gray (Nathalie)
and Derek Gray – both of Moncton; her grandchildren, Lucy,
Riley and Brittany; her great grandchild, Aurora; as well as many
nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by three sisters, Rose-Marie
(Gérald) of St-Rémi, QC, Jeannine
(Réal) of Sarnia, ON, and Claudette (Clyde) of Moncton;
three brothers, Alpha (Lilliane) of Moncton, Gérald of
Moncton and Rémi (Murielle) of Ottawa, ON.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers,
Émile (Monique) and Danny (Janice).
Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Richibucto,
on Friday, March 7th, 2025 from 7:00-9:00PM and
the following day from 9:00AM until the time of the Funeral. A Funeral
Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8th,
2025, at 10:30AM.
Arrangements are in the professional care of Thompson Funeral
Home in Richibucto (506-523-4252)
« You Will Always Be Mom to
Me »
(By: Derek Gray)
From the time that the past became
my first memory,
You’ve always been a mom
to me.
From cuts and bruises to wins and
losses and everything in between,
When I close my eyes or think back
to see,
You’ve always been a mom
to me.
No help from a man; only single moms
will understand,
With the bumps and the grind, no one
could disagree
That you were always a mom to
me.
As things in life change,
Life’s molecules rearrange,
We find ourselves lost in the
past.
But time plays its role, and time
takes its toll,
As it rolls past so very
fast.
The one thing that is
inevitable,
A constant no matter
Life’s time.
My love never fades; no obstacle can
shade,
The love that I’ve had
from Life’s start,
And with all that time, the constant
will be
That nothing can tear us
apart
I hope you can see no matter
what,
You will always be mom in my
heart.
