Audrey Taylor Obituary
With grace and peacefulness, Audrey Taylor passed away in her 90th year with her husband and her family by her bedside, on February 22, 2025. She will be fondly remembered by her husband Edwin (Eddie) Taylor, who loved her well into their 69th year. Survived by their son Del (Annie), daughters, Liane and Lisa (Kevin). She has two grandchildren Elena and Rebecca. She has had many good friends along the way but nothing like her two life long friends Ann and Joan. Predeceased by her mother Eileen Pike (Nana), Aunts Alma and Peg and her dear Pops.
She was born on May 8, 1935 in London England and was just starting school when WWII broke out. During the war years she spent many nights in bomb shelters. When the London Blitz bombs came, she was evacuated twice to the countryside for safety. After the war she became a qualified secretary in London and with her girlfriend (Marianne), they made the brave decision to come to Canada by ship in their late teens. She worked at Westinghouse when she met Eddie and was married on June 23, 1956. She came from a small family but was quickly welcomed into the 9 brothers and sisters of the Taylors.
Her second home for many years was the family cottage in Kincardine. She enjoyed many summers and weekends at the cozy cottage on Lake Huron while her children grew up.
Starting in the 1980s she travelled the world for many years that included 50 different countries plus Canadian provinces and many of the United States. She travelled primarily with her husband and a few special trips with Evelyn (sister-in-law).
Mom was a founding member of the ‘Ladies of the Round Table’ at Cedar Springs Health & Racquet Club for many years. She made such good life long friends and had great laughs, good exercise and a few curse words (for the instructor Suzanne).
For the last 1 1/2 years her home has been Alexander Place in Waterdown. It’s hard to name everyone who took such good care of Mom but Nita, Nimrat, Muriel, Mila, Gurwinder, Robin, Kelcey, Sherada and Rosa are notably mentioned. The staff are truly angels who do such honourable work taking care and protecting our beloved family members.
Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St.N. Waterdown, on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 1 p.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. To join the service via-livestream please follow the link below.
Mom was an ardent lover of animals all her life, especially cats. In lieu of flowers, donations to Animal Adoptions of Flamborough or CNIB Guide Dogs would be greatly appreciated by the family.
