Andre’s Obituary
Andre Joseph Boudreau
April 5, 1945 – February 21, 2025
BOUDREAU, Andre Joseph – Age 79, of Concession, passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Son of the late Charles “Charley” and Catherine (Dugas) Boudreau, Andre lived his life – “a good life”, as he said – with kindness and patience.
Through quiet, intentional actions, he taught his daughters Collette (Christien) LeBlanc, Saulnierville, and Michelle, Cape St. Mary, and grandchildren, Aimée (Nick) Muise and Mathieu, to value learning, whether formal or through lived experiences, as well as quality time spent with family. He was excited to find out he would be a first-time great-grandfather to Baby Muise this summer. He was always happy to share his knowledge – especially of earning and investing a hard-earned dollar – with anyone who was curious but, mostly, with his many nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own. He always enjoyed hosting gatherings and special times with his sister and his sisters- and brothers-in-law.
He was proud of the Boudreau (dit “Saco”) Acadian heritage, culture, and community that he shared with his siblings including his “p’tit frère” Wilfred (Louise), living in Meteghan Centre, and those who passed before him: Gerald (Evah), with whom he co-owned Boudreau Bros. and Trackview farms; Phillip (Jackie) of Pennfield, NB, who boarded him at the age of 16 when he started working summers at Connor Brothers in Black’s Harbour; Anna (Nelson Pellerin) of Bedford, who kept family history and stories alive; Norman (Marie), who shared his love of the woods and tracking the stock market; and Irene (Nelson Lombard), who loved to beat him at a game of cards.
After high school, Andre graduated from the Pathology Institute as a Lab Technician in Medical Cytotechnology in 1967. He worked at the Halifax Infirmary and, in 1976, earned a certificate in Advanced Diagnostic Cytology from Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. In 1979, he chose to return to his hometown of Concession with his wife, the late Maxine (Corkum), and children to start what was to become a fulfilling career as a pork producer and fox farmer until retiring in 2015.
He spent retirement logging his land (often with his son-in-law), puttering in his garage, wintering in Florida, and spending summers at the cottage. He was always ready to play a game of Hand & Foot, Crib, Skipbo, or dominoes with family and friends, including his companion, Georgina.
Heartfelt thanks to Drs Jean-Luc, Mujoomdar, French, Moses, and d’Entremont, as well as the nursing and care staff of Victoria General 6th floor Thoracics, Yarmouth Regional Hospital ER and 3 South, VON and Palliative Care. Your exceptional care and compassion were greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home, where visitation with family will be held on Wednesday, February 26, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, at 11 am, in Église Sacré-Cœur, Saulnierville, officiated by Rev. Hospice Akoffodji, assisted by Rev. Albeni d’Entremont. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Concession.
