Bonwick, Francis (Fran) Mae Bonwick (nee Mirrlees)
Fran was born June 7, 1932, in Collingwood, Ontario to parents Frank and Ruby (Bailey) Mirrlees. Fran married Jack Bonwick on November 15, 1952. They had 5 children Sandra (Ken) Cooper, John (Patti) Bonwick, Brian (Wendy) Bonwick, Cindy Doyle, Hon. Paul P.C. (Sandi) Bonwick. They have 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Fran is survived by her sister Diane Giambra, predeceased by sisters Pat Brough and Barb Wenzel.
Fran joined the Rebekah Lodge March 1959. She was Noble Grand of Manito Lodge #128 and District Deputy President of Collingwood District #26. When Manito Lodge disbanded, Fran transferred to Glen Rebekah Lodge #209 Elmvale and served as chaplain.
Fran’s first job was in the payroll department at the Collingwood Shipyards, after four years Fran took on a more challenging job of raising the 5 children. During that time Fran attended night school and kept up her skills. When the youngest was in school all-day Fran went to work at Goodall Rubber.
Fran enjoyed reading and knitting sweaters & socks for her family. She also enjoyed a round of golf and a game of cards.
Family and friends will be received for visitation at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel on Friday March 7, 2025, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 8, 2025. Spring interment at First Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Fran’s memory may be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.
