It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected
passing of Elizabeth « Betty » Jean Marshall, wife of the late
Leo A. Marshall, at her home in St. George NB on February 26, 2025.
Born in St. Stephen NB on August 14, 1943, she was a daughter of the
late Arnold and Isabella (McNichol) Hatt. A loving sister, aunt and
friend, Betty is survived by her brothers, Dale Hatt of Pennfield NB,
Allen Hatt (Imelda) of Utopia NB, Brian Hatt of St. George NB and
David Hatt (Beth) of Utopia NB; sisters, Gertrude (George) Paul, Patsy
(Ronnie) Roy and Jane (Brian) Ward all of St. George NB;
brother-in-law, Jeffrey Hanley of Utopia NB; her dear friend, Kay
Buchanan; and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased
by her brothers, Kenneth, Colin and Arnie Hatt; and by her sister,
Dorothy Hanley.
Prior to retirement, Betty worked in various sectors in the
local area. She was an avid card player who enjoyed going to card
plays at the St. George Legion and Curling Club. In her spare time,
Betty enjoyed shopping, though she mainly bought for others. Her
kindness and devotion to her family will be truly missed but always
remembered with great gratitude.
Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the
wonderful staff of Kindred Home Care and NB Extra Mural Nurses of St.
George NB, whom Betty loved dearly, for their kind, compassionate care
shown to Betty and making Betty’s stay at home
possible.
