Glenda Anstey Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, but eternal hope, that we announce the death of our dearly beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Glenda Joy Anstey.
Glenda was born on February 17, 1957 at Botwood, NL, and she ascended to a new beginning on February 21, 2025 from her seasonal residence at Cottlesville, NL. She had recently celebrated her 68th birthday.
A born optimist with a penchant for finding the positives in life, Glenda thrived on the love and joy of being with family and friends. She possessed a winsome attitude and engaging personality. She can also be aptly described as being effervescent, honest, witty, and generous. In her working life, mostly as a bank employee, she was known to be dedicated, capable and efficient. Dust did not collect under her feet. Throughout her life, Glenda cherished time spent with her family, tending to matters, cooking delicious meals, and enjoying their company. She was in charge, taking a lead role, in getting chores done. Music was in her bloodline. In retirement, Glenda enjoyed travelling, particularly her winter sojourns to warm and sunny Florida, and her annual visits to be with her family, including her grandchildren, in Alberta.
Surviving Glenda is her husband, Milton Anstey; their children, Jeffrey (Shelley), Stephen, and Rebecca (Jean Guy); her grandchildren, Caleb and Isabelle; and her siblings, Melody, Bonnie (Gerald), Lyndon (Lisa), Randy (Carolyn), and Clifford (Doreen). Also left with fond and loving memories are her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and a large complement of extended family and friends.
Glenda was predeceased by her father and mother, Calvin and Verna Hale, of Botwood; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pearce and Agnes Anstey, of Cottlesville.
Private visitation will take place at the New World Island Funeral Home on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 3 p.m. Funeral service will commence on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Salem Pentecostal Church, Cottlesville, with Pastor Russell Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Pentecostal Church Cemetery, Cottlesville.
The family is requesting that donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to assist in the upkeep and maintenance of Salem Pentecostal Church Cemetery at Cottlesville.
An expression of appreciation is extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff members at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre at Moncton, NB, and to the doctors, nurses, and staff members at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital at Twillingate, NL, for the care and compassion that they provided to Glenda during the duration of her illness.
