January 30, 1928 – February 7, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our matriarch and rock on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at the Bonnechere Manor, in her 98th year.
Beloved mother of Albert (Sharon), John (Susan) and Beattie (Julie). Loving Nana to Jennifer, Rebecca, Christopher, Sarah, Ian and Emily. Granna to Reid, Bronwyn, Sadie, George, Jack, Ellorah, Della, Penelope and Elizabeth. Mourned by her Buttle family, Rick (Val), Vicky (Mike), Trish (Doug), Karen (Gord) and their families. Survived by sisters, Joan, Sybil, Joyce, Donna and brother Joe.
Predeceased by first husband of 35 years, George Olmstead and by second husband Russell Buttle, with whom she had 6 wonderful years of retirement adventures.
She is also predeceased by parents, Percy and Sarah Crozier, brothers Harry, Glen and Beattie, and her sisters, Aileen, Janet, Marion and Doris.
Born to be a teacher. Mom began her career right out of high school, teaching in the one room schools at Foymount, Scotch Bush and Hyndford. After putting her career on hold to raise a family, Mom took on the task of getting her Bachelor of Arts degree through night and summer school courses. Another full year of commuting to Ottawa University achieving a Bachelor of Education degree, with a major in special ed. After graduating, she taught for the rest of her career at Queen Elizabeth School in Renfrew. There she influenced many young lives with her wisdom, patience and kindness.
We are extremely grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr. Pinard and the staff at Renfrew Victoria Hospital and for the kindness, care and compassion of the staff at Bonnechere Manor.
Professional services have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Cobden St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at 11:00am, luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bonnechere Manor Foundation or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Cobden Presbyterian Church).
