Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. Served in the Korean War 1952 – 1953
Al passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family in the early morning of January 31, 2025 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Wilma (Dunn) for 66 years. Loving father Jamey (Angela), Dale (Diana) and Brenda (late Edward Kaminski). Poppa of Kaitlin Marie, Travis Allen, Sarah Elizabeth and Laird Swan. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Elizabeth (Morgan), as well as his siblings Leigh, Alice, Catherine, Gordon and Douglas.
Al served for 25 years in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Corporal until 1974, before opening MacKay Manor for Alcoholics Anonymous. He spent 15 years spent as the Executive Director, and was a proud supporter of A.A. having reached 61 years of sobriety himself.
Final arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. Following Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation, Hospice Renfrew, the Canadian Cancer Society, MS Canada or War Amps.
