Soeder, John « Jack »
God called Jack to his final adventure, and he passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener in his 91st year.
Devoted husband of the late Sharon (nee Ziegler, 2017). Beloved father of John, David (Linda), Alice (Dale) Langdon, and Russell (Blaire). Cherished grandfather of Dan (Logan), Ben, William, Wyatt, Jack, and great-grandfather of Gavin. Will be greatly missed by his brother Ron (Brenda) Soeder. Will be lovingly remembered by Judy and Lee Bell, Betty and Art Pullan, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his parents John and Pearl Soeder.
Jack loved his two careers, first at the Bank of Montreal, and then with Gleeson/Josslin Insurance, where he made lifelong friendships with his clients and co-workers. He was deeply spiritual and was very involved in his church, and a longtime member and volunteer with the Knights of Columbus. Jack was always up for adventure, whether it was a day trip, exploring a new part of Canada, or vacationing somewhere sunny. He especially loved sitting by the crystal clear waters of Colpoy’s Bay, at the family cottage. Nothing made him happier than watching his grandkids and great-grandchild grow. Jack will be deeply missed, but his love, humour and wisdom will be remembered by all.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital for the compassionate care Jack received.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. with parish prayers offered at 4:30 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila R.C. Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira, followed by interment in St. Boniface R.C. Cemetery, Maryhill.
In Jack’s memory, donations to St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation or Woolwich Community Services – Food Bank would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
