KING, Rev. Lawrence « Larry » Robert
September 18, 1950 – January 28, 2025
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at AgeCare Royal Oak, Kingsville, at the age of 74. Beloved husband of the late Anne King R.N. (nee Jones, 2024), with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Loving father of Michael King, Pamela King and the late Matthew King (2021). Cherished Grandpa of Ashley, Kayla, Jaclyn, and Aiden. Son of the late Alton and Hilda Ruth (nee Shorten) King. Brother of Wesleen, late Martin, late James (Glenda), Sandra (Tom), and Elizabeth. Son-in-law of the late Milton and Ruth Jones. Brother-in-law of Marian, Norma (late Len), Kenneth (Penny). He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rev. Larry was ordained as a United Church Minister in 1977 and ministered over 30 years in service preaching the good word and helping families. Being a dedicated servant of God, even after retirement he still provided support as a Minister in different areas. He led and taught many Boy Scouts throughout his 50 years especially with the 4th Leamington Scouts. Scouting was a passion all his life.
Larry enjoyed all things horticultural – many gardens he tended to over the years, music- a band member of the Erie Street Road Crew, and art with hundreds of drawings. A special thank you to the entire team at AgeCare Royal Oak, Kingsville, for their many years of dedicated care and compassion shown to our Dad Larry. Visitation at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell St., Leamington (519-326-2631) on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. In Larry’s honour, donations directed to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Scouts Canada or Nature Conservancy of Canada are appreciated by the family.
