ENGLAND, Harry W.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Harry William England, who passed away peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice on January 17, 2025, surrounded by close family and friends. Harry fought his cancer diagnosis with determination and grace, inspiring everyone who knew him.
Harry was born in Birkenhead England on August 13, 1955, to his parents, Frances and Derek England.
Harry attended school in England before moving with family to Quincy Massachusetts, USA where he was offered a scholarship in soccer. He did not pursue the opportunity as the family then moved to Canada in 1972.
Harry spent over 40 years working in the taxi business as a driver and dispatcher until his retirement a couple of years ago. In his later years, he enjoyed having a few beers, laughing and playing cards with a handful of close friends. Harry was also an amazing softball player in his day.
And to this day, his father Derek will tell you that he was the most naturally talented golfer in our family. His close friends will also tell you that Harry was just a great guy to know.
Harry was predeceased by his mum, Frances England. Harry is survived by his son, Tom of Halifax, his daughter, Katrina (Jordan) of Grand-Bay Westfield, three grandchildren, Ellie, Faith and Isaiah, and his daughter by heart Kiera of Fort McMurray. He is also survived by his father Derek, brothers Derek (Angie), Frank (Angie), Carl (Frances) and Alan (Lison), sisters Julie and Sylvia (Kevin), several nieces and nephews.
The family will be eternally grateful to the Doctors and staff of Bobby’s Hospice for giving Harry their compassionate care these last few very difficult months of his life. Harry will be dearly missed by his family and friends. To honor Harry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be buried next to his mum during a graveside service at Fernhill Cemetery on Saturday, February 1st, 2024 at 10:30 AM. If you plan on attending, please meet at the Fundy Funeral Home no later than 10:20AM.
Donations in Harry’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or charity of donor’s choice.
Harry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
