Zita Lucy Griskonis
March 11, 1951 – August 31, 2024
Zita, who was born in Sudbury Ontario, passed away in Mississauga Ontario at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the daughter of the late Lucia Griskonis and the late Pranas Frank Griskonis and was pre-deceased by her loving soulmate of 22 years, Norman William La Rose of Toronto.
Zita worked for many years at the Toronto Inn on the Park Hotel in the Payroll Office. She retired in 2022 after a career as Payroll & Benefits Supervisor with the Corporation of Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. She loved her responsibilities and will be remembered for her fastidious work ethic and attention to detail. Zita leaves behind countless loyal friends from her places of employment.
Loving thanks goes out to her close friends and neighbours, Kerry and Mira Price, for their years of friendship and attentive care. Also, to Anne Marie Yaraskavitch and Lynn Foy for their long kinship and support on her most recent final journey. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brian Higgins, medical oncologist, and Perle, primary nurse, at the Betty and Buster Lockwood Cancer Treatment Centre at Trillium Health Partners’ Queensway Health Centre for the care and compassionate support they provided to Zita over the last two years, and to the palliative care staff at the oncology unit at Credit Valley Hospital for the gentle and compassionate care they provided to Zita during the last days of her life’s journey. Loving thanks also go out to the wonderful and patient staff at Sunrise of Mississauga Assisted Living Retirement Residence, and the medical doctors who care for residents at the home, for all they did to support Zita while she was a resident at Sunrise over the last two years.
Zita lived for music, loved to laugh and was a great fan and loyal viewer of many BBC shows. She also greatly enjoyed entertaining staff at Sunrise of Mississauga with her daily witty cartoons that brought smiles all around.
She will be sorely missed by those who knew her. Rest in Peace dear Zita.
