Obituary of William Warren Thompson
Passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the age of 93 years.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife Betty (Wappler), his loving sons Rev. Bruce Thompson and his wife Charlotte and Blair Thompson and his wife Lenore. Cherished grandpa to Colin (Melissa Landry), Sarah (Stefan Alpin), and Craig (Teagan Lowther). Special great-grandpa to Cole and Audrey. Predeceased by his first wife, dearest Marion (Dedels) 2005 and his parents Art and Delphine (Gerth). He will be missed by those he touched.
Bill was raised in Kitchener and in 1952 began his long and distinguished career of 35 years with Dominion Rubber/Uniroyal/Michelin where he assisted in forming the Data Processing Department. Music and faith were important to Bill. He possessed a passion for singing in church choirs and was an original member of The Gloryland Chorus. Bill was a fan of many sports, especially the game of tennis where he ruled the court.
Visitation will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday May 18, 2023 from 11 – 11:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 12 p.m. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room. Internment will take place at Woodland Cemetery.
