WILLIAMS, Bonnie
1938 – 2024
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bonnie Elsie Williams (nee Macpherson) at the age of 85 on January 26,2024 at Extendicare nursing home in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.
Bonnie was the firstborn child and daughter to Bill and Lillian Macpherson born on July 27, 1938. Bonnie will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all those who knew her.
Bonnie graduated from KLCVI high school’s class of 1957 and went on to pursue her dream and passion of becoming a school teacher. Her first teaching assignment was in Kearns, Ontario. She then went on to teach school in Virginiatown, King Kirkland, eventually moving back to Kirkland Lake to teach at Queen Elizabeth, Federal, and Central public schools. Bonnie obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English from Laurentian University while teaching full time and raising three boys. Bonnie retired from teaching after 30 plus years of both a successful and rewarding teaching career.
Bonnie Married Graham Williams on July 1 st 1961 and celebrated 54 years of Marriage until the passing of her beloved Husband Graham in 2015. Bonnie and Graham had three boys, Graham, Bill and Mark. Bonnie was a very active member of the Saint Peters Anglican Church community. She was long term member of the Church Choir as well as a member of the vestry. Bonnie was also a member of various social clubs and volunteer organizations such as The Kirkland Lake Arts Council, Interlink Choir, Royal Canadian Legion woman’s auxiliary, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Bonnie and Graham purchased the Four Acre Point property in Kenogami (which was adjacent to the Macpherson family log cabin) in the early 80’s as their summer cottage. This family cottage would be renovated by Graham to become their home on the lake for many years. Bonnie was always an active woman enjoying the outdoors with her particular love and enjoyment for blueberry picking, skiing, skating, sailing, singing, and taking boat rides down the river between Kenogami and Swastika.
