Kittle, Richard “Dick”
Passed away suddenly but peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital on Monday August, 26th at the age of 90. He was the beloved husband of Helen Kittle for 70 years, loving father of Candy (Don) Thibadeau of Bobcaygeon, Micheal (Linda) Kittle of Cobourg and Scott (Jacky) Kittle of Oshawa. He was the best Grumpa/Bumpa to Aaron, Zachary (Alicia), Korie, Cody (Kelly), Kendall, Esme, Ria and Neve and Great Grandfather of Kayden, Chase, Lucas, Colton, Clara, Everley and Myles. Dick was the dear brother of Jane (Paul), David (Marilyn), Phyllis (Declan), predeceased by Harvey(D) (Mirlene), Robert (Bonnie) and Katie(D) (Bob). Dick was Born in Bobcaygeon to Hank and Olive Kittle. Growing up in Bobcaygeon, he was known as an excellent swimmer and hockey player. Leaving Bobcaygeon at the age of 16, he started work at General Motors and was scouted to play for the Generals, however, broke his knee during tryouts. He completed an apprenticeship and remained in the motors for 44 years. During this time, he was a labour activist for skilled trades, was on the board of governors at the Durham College, was board of directors at Oshawa General Hospital and standing president of little NHL in Oshawa for 5 years. Throughout all of his endeavors, he was a devoted father and husband. He enjoyed time at the family cottage in Cloyne where he built many campfires and made every moment memorable for his entire family. He was a member of the Wolf River Hunt Club. The family enjoyed road tripping across North America in a tent trailer. As you can see, he loved the outdoors! After retiring from the Motors in 1994, he was able to spend 30 beautiful years in his home town of Bobcaygeon surrounded by his family. He may have had a grumpy exterior, but he had the biggest, loving heart with a smile that could light up the room.
Arrangements have been entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES – MONK CHAPEL. Cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
