William «Jord» Webster Obituary
Jord’s childhood began with a sense of adventure and two years at sea with his parents, Bill and Marilyn Webster on their commercial fishing boat, the Deo Adjuvante. It was on the boat that Jord took his first steps and was kept out of trouble with the toss of a scaly fish into his playpen.
As their family grew with the soon addition of his brother, Jeff, they took to land and Jord’s wobbly sea legs had to get accustomed to walking again – this time on land.
Together they began to build a family home at Point Holmes. Jord’s early years at Point Holmes were filled with adventure, curiosity and connection and the addition of two more wonderful siblings, Coralea and then Ben. His loving parents were both dedicated to sharing foundations of faith and a hope for eternity.
Jord thrived outdoors and could be found endlessly motorbiking and riding horses with his siblings and cousins at his beloved lifelong family property. The Webster family also spent many summers camping together at Quinsam Lake and those times were happy times together as a family.
Jord loved birds and brought the property to life while raising many rare bird species and running a chicken farm in his teens, with the help of his family, who spent endless evenings washing eggs to make this first business pursuit a reality.
When he wasn’t outdoors, he could be found in the company of the older generation of his family. Jord shared a close bond with his Papa Cottingham and relished many adventures together on the property. He was endlessly celebrated by his “Gramma Pat” – who never missed a moment to mention his glorious curls or his graceful ice skating – and spent countless hours absorbing Little Grannie Webster’s wisdom in her suite over a cup of Earl Grey Tea.
Central to Jord’s life was his profoundly close relationship with his dad who taught him countless hands-on skills; clearing land, building barns, operating, and wrenching machinery and milling lumber – together they tackled endless property development and maintenance projects. Through his tight knit companionship with his dad and having parents truly dedicated to nurturing his strengths, Jord developed and honed many lifelong skills and passions.
Jord and his Dad shared a mutual love of the water and this set Jord up with excellent fishing skills that he was able to later share with his own family.
Jord was always excited to explore remote locations, places difficult to access and places not many people had even heard of. One of his strong suits was overpacking extra supplies in case of potential emergencies and he loved being able to help those around him along the way. Jord cherished his memories of exploration and adventures with his friends and family and motorbiking, shooting and even gold panning attempts will forever be some of the happiest of times together.
Jord carried on the Webster family camping tradition through the years, alongside Justine, with his own kids and loved bringing all the outdoor fun with boating, water skiing, riflery, motorcycles and quads.
In 2006 Jord and his family; Justine, Alanna, Liam and Ethan set off for an adventure to Costa Rica accompanied by Jord’s parents and all three of Jord’s siblings. This time away all together was a huge undertaking, but it was a special experience that was memorable and filled with adventures and tales that could take on a different spin depending on who you were speaking to. Jord dreamt of more Costa Rican adventures and they returned as a family once more in 2009 where his youngest son, Arri, was born and were joined once again by Bill and Marilyn to celebrate this new addition to the family.
Jord was adventurous, a truth-seeker, eager, social and friendly. The beach at Point Homes was a solace to him and his walks on the beach were a source of comfort and connection with others and he became the face of the Point Holmes boat ramp. Always ready to dive into conversation, he ended up forming countless connections and friends that were drawn to his magnetic personality and unique way of thinking.
Jord was a man with a courageous spirit, not afraid of a challenge and always ready to swim against the current. His broad scope of interests, energy, and love of connecting with people led him to become involved in many disciplines. He became a talented ballroom dancer, gained proficiency in martial arts, and pursued flying a Cessna. We also will forever miss the sound of his beautiful tenor singing voice.
Jord’s caring nature shone through as he supported his Dad in 2 years of caregiving, alongside his Mom and all of his siblings, who rallied together to care for Dad after a stroke. Jord also was a supportive presence for his 101-year-old Grandma in more recent years, alongside his Mom, both who he loved dearly.
Jord’s children are his greatest legacy and it’s sad to know their story with him was left unfinished. Alanna, Liam, Ethan, and Arri are all dearly loved by their Grammie, Aunts & Uncles and their Mom, Justine. Justine showed up in compassion and care for Jord, in the deep sadness of palliative support needs, despite a story that also included layers of grief in different seasons.
Jord fought bravely and without relent throughout his illness. Despite this unimaginable storm, he was determined to keep living. As long as he could, he tenaciously continued his beach walks daily. When walking became too challenging, he took to riding an electric bike, making absolutely every effort to stay active and positive. He endured a difficult journey with grace and gratitude for all his loving supporters.
Jord will be deeply missed by his beloved mother, Marilyn, and leaves behind his beautiful children; Alanna, Liam, Ethan and Arri and their mother, Justine.
He will be missed by his siblings; Jeff (Amie), Coralea (James) and Ben (Amanda) and each of their families, as well as a loving Grandmother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jord’s life has left an eternal impression on all our hearts.
