Sherman William “Bill” George – age 64, of Yarmouth passed away on September 19, 2024, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on October 6, 1959, he was a son to the late Charles and Isabel (Davis) Sherman. Bill worked at Sobey’s for 39 years, spending many of those years as manager of the meat department. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also had a green thumb and loved to garden and landscape with his spouse Kayla. Bill was very much a jokester and loved to kid around with his work buddies and friends. As a father, Bill always instilled the importance of work hard, play hard. Whether it would be in the woodpile or shoveling the driveway in his famous rubber boots and shorts combo. Days off with the kids were reserved for walks in the woods, using them to test out his latest idea, or untangling fishing lines with a smile. Nevertheless, he taught his family that good times can be found outdoors and that you don’t need anything special to have them. In addition to how to enjoy life, “Waste not, want not” was a motto he lived by, and the saying would often come up in the kitchen as he scraped the macaroni pot clean for his second dinner plate. In between the years of laughs, Bill’s kids learned many lessons they pass down to their own families today.
Bill is survived by his spouse, Kayla Robar; children, Krista (Billy) Christie, Alex (Kelsey) Sherman, Matthew (Jaclyn) Sherman, Melanie Langford; siblings, Patsy (Late John) Sherman, Clyde (Carol) Sherman, Paul Sherman, Hazel Sherman, Shirley Sherman; grandchildren, Autumn, Hunter, Jack, Austin, Maverick, Stevie, Ryan, Austin, Chloe; and his former wife Debbie Sherman. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his siblings, Betty (Enos) Ringer, Helen (Ernie) Pothier, Ronald Sherman, Richard Sherman, Joan Platt, and Charles Sherman.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Donations in memory may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net
