Born October 9, 1937 passed away peacefully the morning of December 12, 2023 in his 86th year. Doug was born in Mississauga, Ontario to Eva and Walter Cramp and is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine, his sons Walter “Wally” (Tammy) and Paul (Brad), and his grandchildren Elizabeth and Aiden.
Doug spent his childhood in Toronto, Moncton, Whitehorse and the Canadian Forces Base Borden in Southern Ontario. Later living in Port Credit, he graduated from the University of Toronto College of Pharmacy in 1960 and embarked on a full career starting in retail pharmacy, moving to his first hospital role as Pharmacist at St. Joseph’s Hospital, then onto over 25 years as Director of Pharmacy at the Toronto Western and Hillcrest Hospitals when he also acted as President of the Ontario Pharmacists Association.
He enjoyed curling and playing hockey in his younger years, then league bowling and occasional trips to the races, watching the Leafs, Argonauts and Raptors, heading to Florida for the winter and loved all dogs, especially his companions Brutus, Reggie, Bentley and Levi.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday December 20th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm at Turner & Porter, Yorke Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Thursday, December 21st at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please send any donation to Canadian Food for Children or The Compass Food Bank in Mississauga.
