William «Billy» James Hurley
1933-2023
The passing of William «Billy» James Hurley,
husband of Mattie (Richardson) Hurley of Lord’s Cove NB,
occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John NB on December
2, 2023. Born in St. Stephen NB on December 31, 1933, he was a son of
the late Frank «Sam» and Grace (Lord) Hurley.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,
in addition to his wife, Mattie, Billy is survived by his children:
Bradley Hurley of Calder’s Head NB and Nena Hurley of Austin
TX; grandchildren: Rhiannon (Colin), Tena (Sean), Brett, Derek and
Dalton; great-grandchildren: William and Charlotte;
step-great-grandchildren: Dahlia and Oliver; his son-in-law: Roy
(Karen) Pendleton of Lambertville NB; a special cousin: Joan of
Connecticut; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billy was predeceased by his parents; daughter: Tena
Pendleton; brothers: Roy and Donald; and by sister: Virginia
Conley.
Billy was a simple man who worked his whole life on the
water. Even in his spare time, he could often be found fishing. He
loved nothing more than being in the company of those he loved,
especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. While there will be no
visitation, a graveside service will be held at the Fairhaven
Community Cemetery at Calder’s Head at a later date. In
Billy’s memory, donations to a charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
