It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Bill McMullin, 96, in the comfortable surroundings at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford, on Jan. 24, 2023.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late John and Annie Mae (Morrison) McMullin.
Dad spent most of his career life working in various coal mines. In his younger years, he was very much involved with local hockey, both as a player and a coach. He also loved the game of darts where he would often bring home his winning trophies. Working on and fixing up cars was a passtime he truly enjoyed. Along with this, he also enjoyed the many summer days sitting out spending time with his family whom he dearly loved.
Bill is survived by his eight children, daughters, Barbara (Roddy) Bossy, Cathie (Clark) Swimm, Colleen (Remi) Lyonnais, Janet (Jay) MacKay, Alana (Robbie) Campbell, Connie (Roger) Desveaux, Kim (Andy) Spence; son, David (Linda) McMullin; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, John Joe McMullin, currently residing in Boston ,MA.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Marie (Gillis) and five sisters.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford, with Father Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Maple Hill Manor. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
