AMADIO, William ‘Bill’ – On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Bill was called to God, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 52 years to Joanne Amadio. Dearly loved father to Kate, Michael, and Erin. Cherished father-in-law of Scott Jeffrey, Stephanie Dunn and Dean Memme. Adoring Nonno to Sarah, Patrick, and Meghan Jeffrey, Will, Alex, and Finn Amadio, Lilianna and Sam Memme. Predeceased by his parents Cecil and Irma (Martin) Amadio. Dear brother of David Amadio and Cheryl Vicary, Mary Ann and Swaroop Rangam, Jim and Jayne Amadio, and Eileen and Dan MacRae. Brother-in-law to the late Carol and Leigh Shelton, Maureen (deceased) and Dan Read, and Robert and Deborah Stocker. Bill will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Darryl, Bryan, Jay, Jennifer, Greg, Jeff, Hannah, Evan, David, Amy, Laura, Daniel, Steven, Krista, Carly and John. He will be sadly missed by best friend of 60 years, Chris Cristelli and ‘the Gang’. Born on June 13, 1946 in ‘Silvertown’ Niagara Falls, Bill came into the world with a positive outlook and a zest for life. From a young age, Bill was known to enjoy a good party and always lit up a room with his quick wit, funny jokes and great stories. Bill enjoyed many activities such as golf, hockey, biking and skiing. He even attained a black belt in karate! Bill had an adventurous spirit and traveled to many parts of the world with his beloved wife, Joanne. During summer holidays at the cottage, Bill shared his love of the great outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He was an accomplished Queen Scout and as an adult, time was always reserved for yearly hunting and fishing trips up north with his father and ‘the boys’. Bill inherited the family values of a strong work ethic and service to others. He was a graduate of Waterloo Lutheran University (now Wilfrid Laurier University) and University of Ottawa where he served as Editor of the Law Review. In 1972, Bill graduated Osgoode Hall Law School and subsequently began his 48 year vocation as a lawyer at Broderick and Partners Law firm in Niagara Falls. Community was important to Bill, having served as co-chair of the United Way (Niagara Falls) and was a member of the Business Industrial Growth Committee. Bill was known as a strong supporter of Catholic Education. He was a trustee for the Welland County Separate School Board, eventually becoming the Chairperson of the Board. In his later years, Bill served on the Niagara Foundation for Catholic Education. Bill will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank Bill’s palliative care team and personal care-givers Lori, Jaynee, Tracy, Rose, Ade, Janice, and Saman for their loving kindness and exceptional care. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Thursday November 16, 2023 from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday November 17, 2023 at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Church, Niagara Falls. In memory of Bill, memorial contributions would be appreciated and may be made to Niagara Foundation for Catholic Education or Project SHARE. Online condolences at pattersonfuneralhome.com
