February 11,1930 – November 27, 2024
Peacefully at her home with her family by her side Willie Overvest of Cassburn quietly passed away on Wednesday November 27, 2024, at the age of 94. Predeceased by her parents Aalbert Torsius and Aaltje van Strieland. Predeceased by her husband Hubertus Overvest. Loving mother of Gerry (Linda), Kenny (late Sandra) all of Cassburn and Alison Bonaldo (Endrio) of Kanata. Dearly loved Granny of Morgan (Justin Uyterlinde), Trisha (Brodey Richardson), Derek (Michaela), Ashley, Andrew, Lindsey, Matthew and Kristina and 2 great-grandchildren Hayes and Beckham. Also survived by her brother and extended family in the Netherlands.
Willie and Herb married in May 1953 and boarded a boat to immigrate to Canada in June that same year. They worked in Ottawa for a few years, then proudly settled in Cassburn in 1961. They loved their new community where they raised 3 children and pursued their lifelong dream of farming.
Willie be greatly missed by her family, friends and members of Cassburn United Church, with a special thanks to Rev. Brian Cornelius for his constant spiritual support.
The family would also like to thank Jane Wylie for being a loving and caring neighbour for many years and to the Bayshore Palliative Care Team for all their wonderful care.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday December 5, 2024 at the Cassburn United Church from 10 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11 am.
In memory of Willempje, a donation to the Cassburn United Church or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A Tree of Remembrance for Willie will be planted in the McAlpine Forever Forest in Vankleek Hill.
