It is with our broken hearts and tearful eyes Wilfred took God’s hands and followed beside him. He peacefully passed on Sunday, March 26, 2023 with his family by his side at Sakura House, Woodstock. Beloved husband and best friend of Darlene Wencel. Wilfred is also survived by his step-sons Mike Wencel (Stephanie Burwell), Brad Wencel and step-grandfather of Taylor Wencel. Dear brother of Art Lonsbary (Ruth Anne), Arlene Sage (Tom), Betty Burwell (Stan) and Carolyn Ford (Gerald) and brother-in-law of Deb Prevost (Red), Shirley Crockett (Dave), Earl Derouchie (Brenda), Kim Derouchie, Dixie Boutin (Marc). Wilfred will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Trueman and Audrey (Scott) Lonsbary, and brothers George (Barb) and Gordon and sister-in-law Karen Miller. Wilfred was employed at Wellmasters in Tillsonburg for 23 years – leaving behind a good, caring group of people. Wilfred held his family and friends always close to his heart and would lend a helping hand to anyone. And if you ever got a hug from him – it was the best – a big old bear hug. He was a jokester when fireworks or Halloween was involved. You always wanted him in your eye sight. If he could scare you he would. When he was around there were always many screams and frightened people – with Wilfred standing off to the side – laughing. A special thank you to Dr. Roth, Dr. Forester, Care Partners (especially to JoAnna) and Sakura House. In keeping with Wilfred’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Visitation will be held at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. A private inurnment will be held at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
