Wiley Proctor Gaudet
1950-2023
«Don’t
be sad when I’m gone.
Be happy we were
together.»
It is with deep sadness that our family announce the passing
of Wiley Gaudet, on December 27th,
2023. He passed peacefully at the St. Stephen Charlotte
County Hospital. Born October 20, 1950, in Fredericton
Junction, he was the son of the late James and Edith (MacDonald)
Gaudet.
Wiley leaves behind Dorothy, his wife of 50 years, and their
two children, Sara (Scott) Hill and Dean Gaudet. He was a
loving grandfather to Emily, Olivia, and James; brother to Leah (Jean
Paul) Arseneau and to Hardy Gaudet; brother-in-law to Dave Pickard and
to Jean Calder (Terry Embelton); nephew to aunt, Peggy;
uncle to nieces and nephews: Natalie (Chris), Greg (Lauren),
Chris (Angela), Ashley, Alesha (Scott), Matthew and Nicholas;
grand-nieces and -nephews: Brandon, Elizabeth, Gavin,
Gabriel, and Hardy; and many cousins. He also leaves behind
many great friends.
Wiley was predeceased by his sister Andrea Pickard,
sister-in-law Juanita Gaudet, niece Lori Gallagher, brother-in-law
Brian Gallagher, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Barb Calder, and
niece Jennifer Calder.
Wiley graduated from Oromocto High. He was one of the 15
graduates of the first graduating class of Holland College Atlantic
Police Academy, PEI, in 1971. This group of 15 remained
friends for the next 50+ years with reunions and regular
visits. He worked as a federal fisheries officer for a few
years, then was employed at Point Lepreau Generating Station and
retired from there after 34 years. Wiley operated his
parking lot line painting business for 17 years. He loved
camping trips with his family every summer. Wiley liked a
clean car. You could see him washing his vehicles in the
driveway every couple of days. Wiley loved walking the river
trail each morning and chatting with many great people along the
way.
Our family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses
within the Eastern Charlotte Extra-Mural program for their care and
kindness. Also, thanks to the staff at the St. Stephen
Charlotte County Hospital and the Oncology Dept at the Saint John
Regional Hospital. We wish to thank all friends who sent
love and prayers his way, and those who called and visited.
He enjoyed those times.
