February 5, 1959 – June 15, 2024
Betty has lost her sidekick. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wes Thompson, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Fancy Nancy (Thompson) Thompson and by his three daughters, of whom he was immensely proud: Elizabeth and Brent Rumble, Lydia Thompson and Holly Thompson. King will also be greatly missed by the «Bumbles»: Reece and Levi Rumble.
Wes was the firstborn son of Patricia (Coatsworth) and the late Wesley D. Thompson. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Jennifer and Jeff Wilson and by his brother Frank Thompson and Josette DeBrouwer and their families. He will be missed by his sister-in-law, Sheila (the late Marty Satchell). Predeceased by Nancy’s parents, Ken and Helen Thompson.
Wes was kind and generous and complex. He loved motors and music, whether it was coming from a Sonos speaker or booming from a ’39 Ford. Some days it was rock and roll, some days it was yodelling. Listening to Danny Boy on St. Patrick’s Day would bring him to tears.
He loved old cars, fire trucks and car rallies. He loved a parade, but never drove in a straight line.
He was proud to be a Blenheim boy. He was a community cheerleader and a businessman. During his career he was a proud ambassador for his community and introduced customers from all around the world to the Heart of the Golden Acres. He enjoyed working with lots of great people over the years at Thompsons.
He was a great host and was known for his unique assortment of chip bowls. Ever the boy scout, Wes was always prepared, and if two was good enough, four was often better! He believed in doing the hard work first.
Wes welcomed one and all to the picnic table at the Shed and some lively evenings often followed. Wes was a bit of a collector and enjoyed sharing his «stuff» with like-minded folks.
Above all, Wes liked to have fun. And what fun we have had! He would often say he was the luckiest boy around, and he would be the first to tell you that he hadn’t missed too many tricks along the way.
Our family is grateful for the support and care of Willie Kirenko. She is an incredible person doing very important work in the community.
