It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Wendy on January 6th, 2023. She will be dearly missed by her adoring husband of 40 years, Ross Valdis.
Loving and proud mom to Justin (Melissa), Drs. Matthew (Lauren) of London and Patrick (Alyssa) of California. Cherished Gamma to Ryder, Charlotte, Hailey and Willow.
Survived by her beloved mother Dora and predeceased by her father Dr. Merrill Nesseth (2014). Dearest sister of Lynne (Brent) Steele and Paul Nesseth.
Wendy was a best friend, inspiration and comfort to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her thoughtfulness and generosity will long be remembered by many, who loved her dearly.
Wendy was a founding Director of the Heritage Children’s Centre in Chatham. Prior to that, she had served as an APSW with Es County Social Services and later in her working life, as owner of Homefront Gifts, Val-Vas-Co Investments and CJK Printing.
Wendy thoroughly enjoyed travelling, mostly cruises and to the cottage up north. She had an equal passion for entertaining and cooking. Her greatest love however was for her family and friends, for whom she devoted her life, planning lavish weddings and tastefully hosting birthday parties, Christmas and most holiday events. She always ensured that everyone enjoyed themselves and left well fed.
As per Wendy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
If you so wish, donations may be made in Wendy’s name to any of the charities that she supported throughout her life, including the Hospice of Windsor and Es County, Windsor- Es Children’s Aid Society and The Downtown Mission of Windsor.
