Venn, Wendy Jasmin (Rosser) (November 3, 1936 – February 24, 2024)
Our dear Wendy, in her 88th year, has departed the world we know for a better life with her Lord and Saviour. She was surrounded by her family as she navigated her way through a brief illness. Roy was holding her hand to the end, reminding us what a loving relationship looks like. Together they created a family we are all proud to be part of: Linda & Jim Mercer; Jennifer Venn; Sue, Glen & Mackenzie Ford; Trefor, Karri, Gabriel, Oscar & Naomi Munn-Venn; and Chris, Britt, Hazel & Gage Venn. Wendy is survived by her sister Enid in Blackpool and predeceased by her parents: Arthur Leonard Rosser in 1960 and Gladys Rosser (née Black) in 1947. We will all miss her greatly.
Wendy was so special to us and we want you to know her the way we did. Her faith and love were central to her life and gave her a courage and lightness that were absolutely inspiring. She arrived from England in 1957 as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. That’s where she met Roy, fell in love, and began an adventure together that took them from Foymount to Cold Lake to Innerkip to Tillsonburg.
Wendy was a homemaker and a kind and gentle soul with a playful spirit and a cajoling wit. She was a quiet, peace-loving soul who enjoyed expanding her mind through reading, supporting her family, and being involved in her church. In the mid-eighties, she became involved with Adult Basic Literacy and Palliative Care. She was also involved with the Oxford County Children’s Aid Society and opened our home as an emergency receiving home, fostering 39 children of all ages. She initiated and led the Potters Prayer Group at St. John’s Church which ran for 27 years and was a member of The Sisters of the Community Order. Full of curiousity, creativity, and energy, she taught us all to explore the world around us. She was full of love for art, poetry, Tuscany, the ancient Sumerians, and Agatha Christie. She was cheeky, cheerful, and profoundly caring.
As Wendy wished, she has been cremated and visitation will take place at St John’s Anglican Church, 46 Ridout Street, Tillsonbug, Ontario on Saturday, March 02, 2024, at 10:00 am. A celebration of this lovely woman will be conducted by Archdeacon Richard A. Jones at 11:00 am, following the visitation. Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to offer letters of support, share condolences, and favourite memories, or contribute memorial donations to St. John’s Anglican Church or to VON Oxford (for Sakura House Hospice), via Wendy’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519)842-4238, which has been entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence.
