Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Wendell Frank Allen, 60 years of age, on November 16th, 2024 in Tatamagouche, NS. Wendell was born June 11, 1964 and was the son of the late Walter and Joan (Higgins) Allen. Wendell was born in Tatamagouche and raised in Westchester Station, NS. He was the youngest of six children, being the youngest of twins. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunted and fished in his younger years; but his first love was fast cars, which he had many over the years. He could be found lighting up Westchester on Saturday nights having fun. Wendell worked as an auto body repair tech at Bordertown Pontiac Buick, Amherst, where he excelled. Even when he was injured or confined to a wheelchair he wouldn’t let that get him down. His blue van could be seen traveling around to family functions and car shows, which he loved to attend. His traveling companions, sister Karen, and loyal companion Chance were always up for an adventure. Wendell moved to Tatamagouche where he made long lasting friendships with his VON nurses. Always a smart comment or a joke he was one of the girls’ favourites. They never went on a vacation that they didn’t bring him back a keepsake. Wendell was known by many and loved by all. Wendell is survived by sisters, Helen (Donnie) Schubert, River Philip; Wendy (Donnie) MacDonald, Tatamagouche; Karen MacDonald, Truro; brother, Walter (Jeannie) Allen, Collingwood; as well as many nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Cathy. A very special thanks to the VON for their care and friendship over the many years. A graveside service will take place at 2 pm on Sunday November 24 at Eagle Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held after the service at the Westchester Community Fire Hall. Family flowers only. For those wishing to make a donation in Wendell’s memory, donations to Eagle Hill Cemetery would be appreciated.
