Obituary of Wayne Andres
Gerald Wayne Andres September 4, 1937 – July 2, 2024
This kind and caring man has left the ones who loved him here to join those who went before him. Wayne’s belief in God helped him through the pain of living with cancer but now the suffering has finally ended and he can rest.
Wayne was born on a farm in Waldheim, Saskatchewan. The second of 5 children, he finished his schooling after a move to B.C. Having left home as a teenager he engaged in many jobs in several provinces. An oil rigger, carpenter, farm worker, surveyor, and more.
He found and married the love of his life in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. They and their family of 3 boys, eventually settled in Quesnel, BC in the 1970s, Here he worked as a contractor, carpenter, farmer, and night watchman at a sawmill.
He earned a “Hometown Hero” award and memorial bench for his volunteer work.
Wayne was an avid horseman, self taught guitarist, collector of antique farm machinery, lover of animals, and always ready to give to those in need. His later years, he enjoyed coffee time with friends and facebook reuniting with long lost friends and relatives. He also loved to visit the local care home, to entertain the residents with music and song. In the large workshop that he built, he manufactured sheds for people right up until this last illness sent him to hospice. The money he received was donated to local charities. He also loved to reminisce about the “good ole days” and take long drives through the mountains and countryside. He loved children so the additions of great grandchildren filled his life with joy. Wayne was loved and will be missed.
Wayne was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Vivian and is survived by his sons, Brian, Clayton (Rose), and Glen (Sharon), their children and grandchildren. He often said how his family gave his life meaning and made it whole.
Also surviving Wayne are his sisters; Jeanne and husband Dale Seaman, Sarah Watts and sister in law, Yetta Andres, as well as nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; George and Mary Andres, brother, Edward, sister, Lois and her husband Peter, and brother in law, Robert Watts. As well as several beloved family members and friends.
