Wayne Stewart McFarlane
“George”
George attended many schools throughout many moves between Ontario and Alberta. He made sure to sit out the classes he didn’t like from day one in the park so the teachers never missed him, and his parents never knew until the first report cards were sent out.
Though his parents and siblings settled in Alberta, George preferred Caledon Village, Ontario, and driving the highways with Uncle Peter (Stump Jumper) in his big rig long before he could get a license.
After courting his unsuspecting better half by delivering steeped tea daily at work for two years, she finally asked him out. They were together every day since for over thirteen years. During this time, he would proudly tell how she asked him out, and deny the rest.
They lived on a farm that overlooked St. Andrew’s Cemetery where they kept an eye on the loud and rambunctious euchre games, listened to the cards being thrown down on the kitchen table, and Grandma McArthur being heckled and made mad about the Liberals.
It also helped that the road was paved, and it was easier to keep his Chevrolet pickup clean and shiny, along with the armoralled floor mats and matching wardrobe.
George loved his family and friends deeply. He made a point to always call on birthdays, on good days and bad, and will be terribly missed.
Dearest husband of Shawna (Ward), loving dad to kittens Tony (The Tiger) and Olivia.
Pre-deceased by his father Robert “Sam” McFarlane and Miriam (McArthur). Brother of Bob (Holly), Shelley (John), June (Perry), and Mitchell.
Cousin of Cheryl, Sharon, (Darren), Lori, Kim (Ian), Brenda and many more.
George wouldn’t attend funerals in life willingly, so there will be nothing formal in passing.
I would like to thank Dr’s Willans, Mauro, Sulejman, Ferguson and Lane-Smith for all your care, patience and attention. A special thank you to all the family and friends for all your support, hugs and kindness.
A tree will be planted in memory of Wayne in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
