Wayne Ewart Ellis “Beaner” passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley, on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born January 1, 1940, son of the late Edgar “Ted” and Irene (nee Young) Ellis.
Loving brother of Gert Edwards of Georgetown, Linda (Jack) Pearson of Owen Sound, Nancy (Tom) Lambert of Kincardine, Janice Ball of Orillia, Pat (Bob) Lunney of Ingersoll, Michael (Doris) of Waterloo, Brenda (Doug) Calhoun of McCullough Lake, Colleen (Roger) Fell of Walkerton, and Donna (Lloyd) Hendry of Inverhuron. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a few great-great nieces and nephews.
Wayne is predeceased by his parents, brothers Billy, Robert, and Gerry, sisters Marilyn (Albin), Bette-Lou (Pat) Herriman, and sister-in-law Mary Anne Ellis.
Wayne was an avid card player (and a very good one) who seldom lost. He enjoyed playing cards at the library, church, Legion, or anywhere there was a deck of cards. In his day, he was an excellent bowler who won many tournaments with a high average. Wayne excelled at playing pool, and would win many chances to travel as far as Las Vegas to play – thus earning the nickname “Champ”
He worked many years at Canada Spool and Bobbin, then Canada Packers, where he retired. He made many memories and many friends through his work years. Wayne enjoyed telling stories from his work years – some good, some funny, and some that maybe shouldn’t have been told. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends and relatives are invited for visitation on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Ann Maycock officiating. Reception to follow.
