Passed away July 12, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband and soul mate of Anne Brooks – Sowden. Cherished father of Amy Sowden (James), and Tanya Wilson (John). Loving and Best Papa to David Sowden, Hannah, Jacob, and Zoey Wilson and loving Step Papa “Papa Wayne” to Sophia and Benjamin Brown and Leeya, Logan, and Leo Coronet. Affectionately remembered by Ryan Brown (Elizabeth), Michael Brown (Charlene) and Scott Brown (Nicole).
Wayne was born to Sybil and Thomas Sowden. He was 1 of 18 children and is lovingly remembered by his siblings and their spouses. He will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and his special nephew Paul Sowden who shared his love of cars with him and spent many hours cruising country roads in one of his beloved cars.
He will be fondly remembered by Rose White who he shared two beautiful daughters with as well as his mother and father in – law Eric (the late Janice) Brooks and his sister – in – law Kelly Gaudaur (Robert).
Thanks to Dr. Koneru and Dr. Niglas for their care and a very special thank you to Dr. Mule for his kind and compassionate care during Wayne’s illness.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or to The Hospital for Sick Children.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life on August 20, 2023 from 1 – 4 p.m. at The Knights of Columbus Hall, 1 Elias St. Port Hope.
