Obituary of Wanda Jean Campbell
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wanda Jean Campbell, wife of Brian Campbell, announces her passing which occurred on Monday June 3, 2024, at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital, surrounded by Brian and their girls. Wanda was born on September 13, 1958, and was the daughter of the late W. Murray and Alma (Young) Powers.
It is hard to describe someone who was as vibrant, kind and funny as Wanda. She will be remembered for her bright sense of humour and her unique way of viewing life. Wanda was always good with people and truly enjoyed getting to know them. She was interested in the lives of those around her, was genuine, and had a big heart with lots of love to give. She was a passionate sports fan and especially loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs play.
She was a strong woman who would stand up for anyone who needed it. She was fiercely proud of her children and even more proud of her beloved grandchildren. They were her world, and nothing brought more joy to Wanda than watching her grandson play hockey. She was famously known as the loudest fan at the game with her cowbell and whistle. She was lovingly known as Gram by many who knew her.
Wanda worked at many places over the years, including NB Liquor and the Rothesay Corner Irving. She especially enjoyed her time at Speedway 660. Wanda loved racing and everything about being a part of the racing community. She and Brian spent many anniversaries at the track, including a few where Brian presented her roses from the racecar.
Wanda’s family is hopeful that you will remember her when you visit a racetrack, catch a hockey game, or if you play a little prank on an unsuspecting loved one.
Wanda’s family would like to thank the staff of 4 South West at the Dr. Everett Chambers Hospital for the kindness and friendship shown to Wanda.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Brian; her daughters Barbie (Scott) Campbell, Carolyn Campbell, and Jody (Sean) Hickey; siblings Patsy Powers, Murray (Verdie) Powers, Kevin (Stephanie) Powers, and Gail Powers, brothers-in-law David (Pam) Campbell, and Randy Campbell; grandchildren Mackenzie Brewer and Ally Boreland, bonus grandchildren Hannah Willar (Kenny), Madeline Hickey, Liam Hickey, and Charlie Watson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents, her brothers-in-law; Don Brooks and Kevin Campbell, and her mother-in-law Marguerite Campbell.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis (506-849-2119). Visiting will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. For those who wish donations to War Amps would be appreciated by the family. For anyone unable to attend the service, a livestream will be available. You can view the livestream by clicking the link on the lefthand side of Wanda’s obituary.
