It is with great sadness we announce the
passing of Wallace Allison Greeno, age
100, of Chapman Settlement. Wallace passed away on Thursday, July 6,
2023 at High Crest Nursing Home in Springhill.
Born in Northport, he was a son of the
late Edgar and Ina (Goodwin) Greeno.
He was engaged in the steel industry for
over 25 years retiring in 1980 from Dominion Bridge as a structural
foreman. He was a member of the Lorneville United Church, a member of
the Sunrise Senior Citizens of Northport, a former member of the
Knights of Pythias, Chignecto Lodge #11 and a former member of the
Royal Canadian Legion, Amherst Branch #10. During WWII he served
overseas with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders.Survived by his common
law wife Daphna Day; daughters, Marilyn Letcher (Raymond),
Northport, NS and Sharron Murray of Amherst, NS; foster son, John
Trenchard, Amherst; brother, Albert of Amherst, NS; five
grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and 7 great-great
grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was predeceased
by his wife Marjorie (Weeks); a brother, Lloyd and sister,
Eva.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777)
where visitation will take place Sunday, July 9th, 2023 from 11 AM
until 1 PM followed immediately by a Funeral Service with William
Drysdale, DLM, officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorneville
Cemetery.
For those wishing to do so, memorials
may be placed to Lorneville Cemetery, The Cumberland Hospice and
Palliative Care Society or charity of choice.
