W. Robert (Bob) Hamilton
Born in Woodstock on March 7, 1945, he was the son of Harry and Kathleen (Buckingham) Hamilton. He was predeceased by his son William (Bill) Hamilton in 1995, and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna (Markey) and children; Cheryl Hamilton (Brent Sharp) of Wakefield, NB, Mark Hamilton (Amy) of Kamloops, BC, and Lori McGarity (Everett) of Cambridge-Narrows, NB; his beloved grandchildren MacKenzie Chase (Kelsey), Kaylie Chase (Cody Mousseau), Brayden Chase, Abbey McGarity, Hannah McGarity, Rieley McGarity, and William (Will) Hamilton, great-granddaughter Sophie Chase, Brother Vince Hamilton (Paulette), several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob graduated from Woodstock High School and went on to work at Tractors and Equipment in Fredericton to begin his heavy-duty mechanic license. After 2 years, he and his family moved home to Belleville, NB to continue his career as a Red Seal Heavy Duty, Truck and Trailer, and Automotive Mechanic at the Department of Transportation in Woodstock. He retired from the DOT as the Mechanic Supervisor in 2000.
Bob had a passion for International Tractors, and this showed in his love of tractor pulls with his Super M for over 40 years until he retired from pulling in 2017. He also had an amazing love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cutting his own firewood and growing a massive garden for his entire life.
He was a very generous man, always helping neighbors fix their snowmobiles or tractors; helping them to line up their guns; plowing many driveways at no charge; and giving from his massive vegetable garden to anyone that stopped in for a visit.
He was a beloved father to his 4 children teaching them a great work ethic, honesty, respect and to always do what was right, even when nobody was watching. Although his love for his children was great, it was only surpassed for the love of his grandchildren and great granddaughter. They were his pride and joy and meant everything to him. Their many visits were cherished and their many accomplishments in life were celebrated.
The Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to The Saint John Ambulance, the many doctors, nurses at both the Waterville Hospital and Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital. Also, a very special thank-you to the Woodstock and Debec Fire Departments, especially Philip Murray. Your kindness and compassion was outstanding and will never be forgotten.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Culberson Funeral Home. There will be no visitation and a Private Family Service. The family extends an invitation to all friends to join them at the Richmond Corner Recreation Center at 830 Route 555, Richmond Corner from 4-6 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The family suggests that Memorial Donations may be made to the Debec Animal Shelter or to any Memorial of the Donor’s choice.
