It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of W. Richard Hurley, age 77, of
Amherst. Richard passed away peacefully with his family by his side at
the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, April 25,
2023.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the
late John and Margaret (Legere) Hurley.
Richard will be dearly missed by his
wife Lillian Thompson Hurley; sons Kevin (Tanya) their children Ryan
and Liam; Larry (Mellisa) their children Kristen, Owen and Damien;
sisters Pauline (Jack) McDermott, Scarborough ON, Elizabeth (Late Rod)
Dieppe; brothers Rod (Dolly) of Amherst, Wayne (Kelly) of Amherst,
Stewart (Cheryl) of Springhill, David (Ester) of Porters Lake, Eric
(Barb) Tatamagouche and Ernie Richard (Betty) of Moncton, NB; numerous
niece and nephews. He is also survived by special sister-in-law
Marilyn Thompson and life long friend Neil Delaney without who’s help,
Richard would have never been able to stay at home.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by brother Vernon and an infant brother Larry.
The family would like thank Dr.
Bienkowski and Dr. Short with Palliative Care as well as all nurses
who went above and beyond to make Richard feel
comfortable.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). An informal gathering of family
and friends will take place Sunday, April 30th from 3 PM – 5 PM at
Breakfast at Brittney’s, 45 Victoria St E, Amherst, NS where light
refreshments will be served.
Memorial contributions in Richard’s
memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Amherst
CARMA.
