Passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early morning of Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Marilyn Jean (nee Hawkins)
Loving father of Christopher (Teresa), Shawn (Trisha) and Anne (Gordon Chamberlain)
He will be missed by his grandchildren Benjamin (Amber), Joshua (Paige), Evan (Alison), Kyle (Samantha), Kelsey (Maguire), Jessica (Braden), Ryan (Madi), Victoria (Scott), Michael (Deanna) and his two great grandchildren Maverick and Grace.
John is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and May (nee Stuart), his brother James and survived by his sister-in-law Marilyn (nee Syme).
John was a sports enthusiast cheering on his many teams which included the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ottawa Senators and the LA Rams. In his younger years John was a natural on the ice attending Clarkson on a hockey scholarship. John was a chemical engineer who, throughout his career, worked at Dupont and Allied Chemical and also taught high school at Brockville Collegiate Institute.
The family would like to extend a Thank You to all of the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital for making his stay as comfortable as possible.
John’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church, Renfrew on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 1:00pm. Inturnment to follow at Thompsonville Cemetery. In memory of John’ please consider a donation to Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church or a charity of your choice.
