Obituary of Vivian Diane Johnson
Vivian Diane Johnson, 76, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 2, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born on September 23, 1946 in New Glasgow, in her family homestead, she was a daughter of the late Colin Everett and Dorothy Mae (Jordan) MacLean. Vivian loved to care for people and it is no surprise her chosen career was in health care graduating with honors from The George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology in 1984 as a Health Care Aid. Vivian served cheerfully as a PCW for many years in institutions and communities both in Ontario and Nova Scotia; she was well known for her kind and compassionate service to those entrusted to her care. Vivian was a devoted member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow where she served as a greeter. She held a deep trust in her Lord and she could be found reading her Holy Bible every day. She was a loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend known for her loving heart, generosity and deep gratitude in all things, big and small.
Vivian was a storyteller, an avid reader and loved to write. As a young mother she wrote a poem“ A Medal for Mother” as a tribute to the love and gratitude of her mother which was first published in a magazine for young mothers in Toronto and later honored and published in her niece’s book of Poetry UnSpoken Truth:unmuted and unfiltered. For Vivian, “Life has changed; not ended!”
She adored her entire family and especially her beloved daughter, April Johnson and her treasured grandchildren Abdalla and Summer, Spryfield; who she is survived by along with her sisters, June Hurst, Amherstburg, Ont.; Daisy Mae Atwell, New Glasgow; Cora MacLean, New Glasgow; Karen MacLean, New Glasgow; brothers, Wilfred (Deloras) MacLean, Windsor, Ont.; Arthur MacLean, New Glasgow; Blake MacLean, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews, great and great great whom she held so close to her heart.
Besides her beloved parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Darlene Jefferies and twins, Raymond and Catherine in infancy.
In honoring the wishes of Vivian, a private graveside service will be held.
The family would like to thank the EMS service, Aberdeen Hospital emergency and ICU for the compassionate care shown to our special lady and special thanks to Deacon Brian Bowden for leading the family in prayer and hymns as our earth angel transitioned to her heavenly home.
Donations may be made in Vivians memory to Second United Baptist Church 330 Washington St., New Glasgow Nova Scotia, B2H 3M1.
Lovingly written by family
