Virginia Yvonne Warwick Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Grace Caroline Yvonne Warwick (Nee. Martfeld) surrounded by her husband and children on April 18th ,2024. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Virginia was born in Unity, Saskatchewan on August 19th ,1944. She was the youngest child of Grace and Arthur Martfeld. She spent the first 6 years of her life on the family farm close to Luseland Saskatchewan, then moved to town to start school. She completed high school in Luseland, before moving to Saskatoon where she went to Business College. She worked in the accounting department at Eatons shortly after graduating.
Virginia and Brian met in Luseland and were married September 5th ,1964. They spent their first 4 years between Saskatoon and Luseland until Brian accepted a teaching position in Nanton, Alberta in 1968. They made their home there and raised four children.
Virginia had many interests and loved to learn. She took cooking, horticulture and sewing classes, which she excelled at. She could always be found reading.
She loved music, especially Elvis and ABBA, and would play it loudly so we all could appreciate it. She played the piano with fervor too.
Virginia and Brian traveled with their family on many camping trips, including down to the Mexican border and all the way across Canada to PEI. So many memories were made along the way.
She worked in the Nanton Drug Store where she met many community members. Her gentle kindness and generosity touched many lives. She believed in helping those in need and did this in her quiet, unassuming manner.
Virginia loved all living things, which was reflected in her prolific garden, her flowers, her animals, her children, and grandchildren. She cherished her family the most, including her nieces and nephews whom she loved without limit. She loved to laugh, and her quick wit and mischievous smile were always at the ready. Her spirit will endure through the numerous skills that she taught her children and grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her husband Brian of 60 years; her children Trevor (Kristen), Charlotte (RD), Shaunna, Kevin (Tracy); her brother Don Martfeld; her grandchildren; and counless nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her father Arthur; her mother Grace; brothers Glen and Bruce; and sister Evelyn.
A family graveside service will be held at Luseland Cemetery on June 1st.
