It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Theresa Zabowski (nee Grenick), on January 1, 2024, at the age of 76.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Harold Zabowski, son Robert (Kim), son Kevin (Julie Innes), sister Audrey Herda (Jim), step-sister Cheryl Grenick (friend Gerry) and sister-in-law Teresa Zabowski (pre-deceased Ronald).
She also leaves behind a truly amazing legacy for her grandchildren Emily and Nick Zabowski, Sydney and Camryn Zabowski, and Tristen and Skyler Sokolosky.
Violet was predeceased by her father Roderick Grenick and mother Mary Grenick (nee Stampnick).
Violet was born on the first day of spring March 21, 1947, in St. Boniface Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm in Cooks Creek Manitoba where she attended Zora school. She would later follow her passion to become a teacher where she taught in Winnipeg as well as teaching Grade 1 at Eastwood School in Thompson Manitoba.
Violet’s main passion though was her family. She married the love of her life Harold on August 3, 1968, and would go on to create a beautiful life and 55 wonderful years of memories together.
Her 2 sons were always raised with love and great values that were instilled in each of them, which they now have passed on to their children to carry on. Oh, and how she loved each of her grandchildren…..
Kind. Caring. Compassionate. Loving. All words that come to mind from everyone who ever met her. Violet was the true definition of selfless. She put everyone’s needs before her and would be there every single time to listen to whatever you had to say. Even when she had way more to tell you.
Her love for angels in life is now befitting as she now has her own pair of wings and is watching down on all of us. A beautiful soul who will be deeply missed but will always be remembered with love.
A heart filled thank you to the Heath Care team at St. Boniface Hospital for the excellent care they provided.

Following Violet’s wishes, a graveside service will be held later in early summer 2024 at the St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Cooks Creek, MB, where the family will provide more information closer to the service.
