Victor passed away with his loving wife Lillian by his side at St. Boniface hospital on September 19, 2022.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lillian; brothers-in-law, Walter Neil, Marvin, Daniel Jeffrey and Vance; sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Mary, Joan and Donna; nephews, Gary (Dorothy), Jerry (Jan), Craig (Jean D’Arc), Reid (Wilma) Glen (Judy), Wayne, Brent (Janet), Greg ( Lezlie), Jim (Gail), Timothy, Dale (Aruna),Tom (Connie), Bentley (Diane), Andrew (Jennifer), Mark (Vicki), Robert (Melanie), Blair and Jason (Leanne); nieces, Arlene (Mark), Yvonne, Paula, Lisa (Miles), Tania (Gary), Erin and Kari; along with all their families, and many special cousins.
Victor was predeceased by his parents Jack (Goodwin) and Gertrude Johnstone; brothers, Astor and Russell; sister, Louise Simpkins; brothers-in-law Clayton Simpkins, Alexander, Milton, Charles, Michael and Andrew Dale; sisters-in-law, Marjorie, Mary, Genovieve, Audrey, Thelma Joyce and Patricia; nephew Chris Sugimoto; niece Donna and great-niece, Leanne Simpkins.
As a young boy, Victor sang in the First Lutheran Church choir until his voice finally broke. He attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, passing all his grades with Honors and went on to become a whiz at Math and History. Victor was employed with Allmar for 50 years and enjoyed all the time spent with his second family, with his appreciation for the kindness shown to him during these years.
Victor loved music, was a terrific dancer, a Championship 5 Pin Bowler, an avid reader and enjoyed sports, especially our Jets and Bombers.
Victor will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who always showed compassion for others; as well as for his fantastic sense of humour and he will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to our nephews and nieces, Reid & Wilma, Glen & Judy, Jerry & Jan, Gary & Dorothy, Gary & Tania; sister Joan; brother Jeff; and special friend Mary, for all the support and love given to Victor and myself
and especially to our best friends Heather & Ed Isfeld and their families for always being there for us over the many, many years.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff on 5th NE at St Boniface hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
Victor’s ashes will be interred in the graveyard at St. James Anglican Church, Poplar Park later this summer with immediate family in attendance.
If so desired, a donation may be made in Victor’s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, St Boniface Hospital, or any other charity of your choice.
