Victor was known for his warm hospitality, always ensuring his guests were well-taken care of.
Victor joined the Canadian Armed Forces in the late 1950’s where he managed large Food Services Operations, achieving a rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Victor travelled the world as member of the Armed Forces, serving in the Army, Navy and the Airforce.
He was posted to Germany twice and served in Egypt and Cyprus. Victor also did a goodwill tour with the Navy in Australia. Vic retired in 1978 when he was stationed in Comox on Vancouver Island with his family. Shortly afterwards, Vic and his family moved to Abbotsford where Vic worked as a Food Services Officer at various men’s Penitentiaries in the lower mainland.
Victor had strong leadership skills, taking pride as a member of the Abbotsford Legion, and the Abbotsford Old Age Pensioners Hall, where he held various executive positions and was always willing to lend a hand.
Victor always wanted to have his own business and for many years Vic and Vel owned and operated “Vic’s Key Cutting and Engraving” and later added shoe repairs in various Abbotsford locations.
Vic was very social and he had a strong creative side. He enjoyed painting, Square Dancing, engraving, calligraphy, and woodworking. Vic was quick to get, use and learn how to use computers. Vic was also an avid reader. Mostly though, Vic loved spending time with his family and friends.
