Passed peacefully away surrounded by family on December 7, 2023, at the age of 98 years, Vera Edith Buck.
Predeceased by parents, Violet and Samuel Kennedy; husband, John Buck; son, Bruce; siblings, Joan, Gertrude and Herb; brother-in-law, Earl Gillard.
Leaving to mourn sister-in-law, Daphne; children, Mary, Lex (Eleanor), Paul (Heather), Terry (Nancy), Joan (Paul), Margie (Sean) and Marie; daughter-in-law Florence (John); grandchildren Cory (Ashley), Jeff (Kelly), Nicholas (Angela), Rachel, Ashley, Megan (Wayne), Melissa (Mark), Matt (PeiLyn), Jordan, Caelie (Ted), Ryan, Jennifer, Nadine (Matthew), Samantha (Graeme), Aaron (Mallory), Samuel (Damindra), Jonathon (Haley); Erin, and Kerry; great-grandchildren Austin, Brandon, Taligha, Khai, Zachary, Kadence, Logan, Malachy, Landon, Reese, Rohnen, Keegan, Harlow, Zoe, Beckett and Isla; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; her friends at Hillcrest Estates, especially, her roommate, Pearl Smith; her friends and card playing buddies in Old Perlican, as well as, many other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Estates for their continuous love, support and care over the last 6 years and these last few days. Thank you to public health nurse, Alicia; community health paramedics, Leslie and Michelle; for your above and beyond care during this difficult time.
Vera left an impact on every person she ever met. Mom played a key role in organizing many social events from evening card games, to family gatherings, to bus to trips to Nashville. Mom was the centre of the family ensuring that everyone was always connected. Her legacy is her family and her friends, far and wide. They will all treasure her thoughtful crafts that are proudly displayed in their homes.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, December 10 from 10 a.m.-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday December 11 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be live streamed and recorded for those who cannot attend.
Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation can be made in Vera’s memory to either the Cancer Care Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
