June 22nd, 1948- February 21st, 2023
Ursula Wavey Yvonne Skiffington, age 74 years, passed peacefully away February 21st, 2023 at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista where she resided since December 2021.
She was the only child of Bert and Dorothy Keats, of Newman’s Cove. Although born an only child, she was always surrounded by many foster brothers and sisters over the years, as her parents became foster parents when Ursula was just a little girl.
She was a quiet and shy little girl who loved flowers and especially loved animals. So much so that wherever she went, if there were any puppies or kittens, she would bring them home, driving her mother nuts wanting to keep them; and being spoiled, she usually got her own way. Her love for animals never changed and once she was married, she drove her husband nuts. She brought all kinds of pets home, dogs, cats, rabbits, and even budgie birds, yes budgie birds. It all started out with one budgie bird, who she decided looked terribly lonely, and was in need of a companion. So she convinced her husband to buy another. Long story short; the birds ended up being male and female, and needless to say, she had baby budgies up to her eyeballs. At one point there were 19 budgie birds. Even the local newspaper «The Packet» sent a reporter to interview her all about it.
Another love of hers were flowers, and gardening. She turned after her father that way, and was blessed with having a green thumb. She really could grow anything.
Ursula had many loves. Her family, her friends, her pets. Especially her dog «Teddy», but most of all she loved her Lord. She never missed a service until her husband Roy passed. She didn’t have her drivers license and had to rely on others for a ride. As time passed her failing heath kept her housebound, but she continued reading her Bible and professing her faith.
Ursula leaves to mourn her two daughters Kim (Pat) Hogan, and Lorie (Newton) Pritchett. Two grandchildren Holly Hogan and Coby Skiffington.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Dorothy and Bert Keats, and her beloved husband Roy Skiffington.

Visitation will take place at Strathie’s Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23rd from 2:00pm- 4:00pm and 7:00pm- 9:00pm as well as Friday, February 24th from 2:00pm- 4:00pm and 7:00pm- 9:00pm.
Funeral Service will be held at the United Chuch in Newman’s Cove, on Saturday, February 24th at 11:00am.
